  1. Stopping wearing your glasses will only cause you to bump into things.

What may or may not have happened to your friends must be for complete different reasons.

Wearing or not wearing glasses can't change your vision. All glasses do is focus the light coming into your eye .

If you don't have them on, that same light is entering your eyes anyways , just not focusing at the right place.

  2. If you have a prescription, then your eyes had a problem that not wearing glasses didn't prevent or fix.

There might be some truth to the belief that wearing glasses make you dependent on them, thus making your eyes worse. Whether that ends up being true or not, that still would not imply that not wearing them makes your eyes better.

  3. No. You are nearsighted and will not be able to see any quality of distance with a -3.00. It absolutely will NOT make your eyesight better or worse by wearing or not wearing glasses. It may though give you a headache or cause you to fail in school and I'm sure with that Rx you have to wear to drive, it would be dangerous to yourself and especially other drivers for you to drive and not wear glasses. All glasses do is correct the problem while your wearing the glasses it doesn't actually change your eye.

  4. That question leads me to believe that you are terribly naive.  That's okay I guess, you're only 16.  But you need to learn to ask your the correct medical source (doctor/dentist/optician) the question by phone and the answer is FREE.  Don't hesitate to tell them your friend's story so they can try to answer why that might have worked for them.  (Example, my son, then 7 years old, had astigmatism and the glasses were temporary to try to correct it along with eye exercises.  He lost his glasses in a year and the optician we went to said he didn't need them anymore as he had grown out of the astigmatism.)  If you follow your friend's advice at this age, you'll end up learning all the lessons the HARD way.

  5. dont stop wearing em..... it'll jst make it worse.......

  6. The only thing I would add to Footprintz answer is that don't be surprised if next exam you are -3.50 or more. At your age you can become more near sighted over the next couple of years.
