  1. No, they never will. Red Sox fans don't measure their team's success against anyone but the Yankees. It's always been this way and I don't see it changing. Besides, the history between the two teams reaches back decades and the proximity of New York to Boston just makes it that much worse.

Lakers-Celtics is one of the few long-distance pro sports rivalries and that only happened because they played in the NBA Finals so many times.

  2. I don't think that they are all geographic.  I think the Rays are going to have a good rivalry going with the Yanks and the Sox for a few years.  It's within the division primarily so no, the Angels won't have as intense of a rivalry with the Sox as the Yanks do.  Not to mention Yanks vs Sox has been going strong for 90 years (d**n you Frazee!).

  3. Never will happen.  They're in different divisions and the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry is the biggest rivalry in sports.

  4. nope

  5. I believe the answer is "NO", for various reasons;

1- Geography. This 2 teams are only a 5 hr drive from each other, and share a fan base territory.

2- History. 90 years of disliking each other, going back to the Babe Ruth trade. More recently, Bucky Dent's home run, the big comeback of '04, and now the Joba vs Eukalis feud. This doesn't even take into account the non baseball aspect of the rivalry between the 2 cities.

3- NYers and Bostonians share a passion for baseball. Californians, will all due respect, do not. They are very casual about getting to the ballpark, and generally leave early.

4- There is only 6 games per year between the teams. Yanks and Sox play 18 times, including usually 6 in September.

5- They are in the same division, with deep wallets.

  6. Notr really since they are in a different division.

  7. No, they are in different divisions and it usually is a geographic thing.

  8. I don't think any rivalry will ever be as strong as the Yankees and Red Sox rivalry is.

  9. I think they are mostly geographic. There certainly are exceptions like the Celtics and Lakers, but that is because both franchises are so historic in the NBA. The Angels would need decades of dominance to reach that level (and they would have to stop changing their name)

  10. Nope.  We have a pretty good rivalry going on between us already, thanks lol =)

  11. It would be a different type of rivalry. Different feel from different actions and tensions and games played.

Yankees/Red Sox go back a long time. It's the most passionate rivalry in sports. Everything stops for this. It's hard to compare any rivalry to this one.

There are two categories: Yankees/Red Sox and anyotherpairinghere.

    They would just be different.

  12. O yeah definately. The Redsox r just getting owned by the Angels lately. The Angels r my favorite team. GO ANGELS!!!!
