Would Green Bay put some clause in the trade deal to prevent this, or is there some unwritten code for trades?

  1. You can count on there being a clause in the trade agreement that would not allow Tampa Bay to turn around and re-trade Favre or even flat out release Favre, especially to a divisional rival like Minnesota.  a trade agreement is a legal document and as such if Tampa violated the terms of the contract the entire trade would be voided and Favre would still be under the Packers control.

  2. my question all along this situation is why is green bay management so h**l bent on not trading him to where he wants to go!..He will play a maxium of two years...They simply have decided to move on,and i bet anyone that when he retired that was already an issue that he was not starting this year..Something is fishy in cheese land

  3. That could happen, but is very unlikely since TB actually wants him instead of Garcia

  4. If that did happen it would be hilarious

  5. If I get your point, I think the answer would be controlled by the NFL charter that each franchise has signed.  There may some "anti-skipping" provision in the charter of the NFL.  But, other than the owners and counsel, who would have read the document.   I assume a new articles of incorporation was written when the two leagues merged in the late 1960s from the NFL and AFL.

  6. plus don't forget the Vikings picked-up a QB in the draft this past April. John David Booty.

  7. the packers can put a no gifting clause into any deal they make with anyteam that would prevent them from trading farve to the vikings.
