Question:

Could the Vikings use Daunte Culpepper? Is Tarvaris Jackson their future? And what if he gets hurt?

Daunte officially retired today. If rumour is to be believed, he was so arrogant with the Steelers during interviews that he actually wanted to compete for Roethlisberger's job, as opposed to be #2 or #3 with Byron Leftwich where he could have had 4-1 odds to simply collect a ring.

I think that has probably turned every team off to him. But if Tarvaris fails or struggles, what veteran quarterbacks are there who could fill in? Culpepper seems an obvious choice as the organisation and he have some level of familiarity.

Would you consider Culpepper for the Vikings? And which QBs would be able to be pulled off of the scrap heap to guide the Vikings? Personally, I was amazed they passed on Leftwich.

  1. Culpepper is retired for good reason.  If you can't make it with the Raiders or the Dolphins, there is a good chance that your career is over.  I think he might make a decent backup somewhere, but really, I wouldn't want to rely on him for the win.  I am a die hard Raiders fan and I put my faith in Culpepper and more often than not, he busted.  I think that the Vikings could rely more on Frerotte than Culpepper.  Remember, last time he was in Minnesota he had Moss and since he hasn't had Moss, he was terrible, even in Minnesota in 2005 before he got hurt.

  2. Gus Frerotte may blow more than Grossman on acid (which he doesn't I've never seen him turn the ball over SIX times in a game, but I have seen Grossman do it multiple times), but he's better than Culpepper. Culpepper was never good without Moss, and he never would have been good without Moss.

  3. that bridge has been burnt

  4. yes they could since their back up QB, Gus Ferrotte, blows more than rex grossman on acid.

but the vikings will never pick him up again.  it would be a bad PR move making them look like they made a mistake letting him go in the 1st place.

besides, the vikes are long past the culpepper/moss days...they'll never go back.
