Question:

Could the Williams sisters play on the men's tennis tour?

I just watched the Williams sisters play each other in the quarter finals of the US open. What a match. They are fast and strong. They can serve at well over a hundred miles an hour. Surely they could compete against some men on the tour? In either singles or doubles.

  1. I don't think so. They're probably gonna get smoked by Rafael Nadal.

  2. Dont be silly.

  3. no

  4. Men vs Women in official play?  never gonna happen!

  5. I believe they both got bigger muscle than half of the male bunch but i think the men still can beat them like... c**p

    testerones rules this one~

  6. both of them are the strongest female player ever :)

  7. NO, They both played a set each against a man a couple of years ago when both were at their peak and they got flogged. The man was a low ranked guy on the tour and he beat them 6-1 6-2. So no they would not win any matches at all.

  8. h**l yeah, i think they can beat all of them. they have nothing to lose but the men, well they have everything to lose.

  9. of course the answer is NO.

the williams might have power... but they have no skills whatsoever compared to great palyers like Kim Clijster and Justine Henin-Hardenne.

Kim and Justine had speed, power, volleys, you name it.

serena and venus stack up errors like there's no tomorrow. if serena gets matched up with Dinara Safina, serena will get OWNED! safina has skills AND power where as serena only has power...

if you guys havent noticed... the william sisters have horrible basic fundamentals.

what i mean by that is that sometimes after hitting, they lose balance and this is not a once or twice thing. the william sisters lose balance alot, hence the errors stack.

the commentators during the matches compliment their own american players because they are told to do so.

2008 us open serena vs venus... during the 2nd set tiebreak, venus served from the AD side and her serve hit the net below the half-way point AND more the the right of the alley.

these girls may be strong and the commentators might compliment them alot, but these two should think about getting a new coach (their father coached them from a young age, hence they suck) before playing in the ATP

  10. I agree with you, I think they can take on the men.  I would definitely like to see that matchup.

  11. There is no way that they could match up with the men in the top 150 or so. They can serve the ball hard and have excellent ground strokes but they can't keep up with the men on the tour. Men hit their ground strokes with more spin and power than either of the Williams sisters are used to dealing with, same with their serves. The Williams sisters top out in the low 120's or high teens, most of the top men can serve between 125 - 135mph and place it better. On top of that they can't move nearly as fast as the men on the tour, unfortunately (and I'm not being sexist) men are consistently better athletes than women. I don't mean to sound rude but there isn't a chance in h**l that they would be able to compete.
