  1. Of course they can, just because there's more modern means of creating doesn't mean that the foundation is loss. I know many artists personally that do 3-d animation and sketch in sketch pad as well as paint on canvas. I know the next Da Vinci is out there. People of today's society just don't have the same appreciation for art like they did hundreds of years ago.

  2. Well first you have to ask yourself what makes mona lisa or david so special to you. you have to figure out what "good" art is to you. everyone is different and some may even think that the Mona Lisa or David aren't even that good. In America, our interpretation of good art is based primarily on perspective. a lot of famous paintings from primitive times dont even have perspective but are still more famous than that of some modern artists. In my opinion (which you dont have to agree with) Modern art is simply a term that describes a time period. so if something is modern than it was done in present times. i see as a student at the Art Institutes that people just keep trying to raise the bar of realism. now that is extremely generalized and not everyone is trying to do that however i am someone who does that. i think that the mona lisa is a very good piece of art however it is not the style that i want to follow. i am a video game major so i am looking to create the most realistic looking pieces i can. to make a short story even longer, the answer to your question is that YES people can create the same type of art to have the same impact however it just depends on what the artist wants to create. some people just don't want to create another mona lisa. some might and probably will in the near future.

when it comes to art, people need to have an open mind because one piece may be considered art to one person, but a preschooler finger painting to others. you need to realize that the talent for those art pieces will never disapear and in my opinion it is actually getting better. but thats because photorealistic art is what i am looking for.

Hope you this was helpful and not a waste of your time to read

  3. I think that they could but these days they assume people want to see something new or more modern. I'd like to see some more art pieces similar to "Mona Lisa" and "David" myself.

  4. counterfeit artists do it!

  5. this is a very interesting question.

personally, I noticed that all the good art is in the past, and i'm not talking only about the paintings but the writers with the novels, the movies, the songs, and the fashion, of course and the architecture.

I think that there were periods in time that are only few in a century that can create new and original masterpieces.

For this 21st century we still wait. But in the 20th century there were many painters and good quality masterpieces that brought something new in art. It is very probable that the art will move on another level, so possibly we won't see real paintings with colours on canvas.

mona lisa and david were the best for their time, people had a different life style

sincerely I am worried about were the art and human society is going now

but let's analize your question, if a modern painter should do what leonardo did for mona lisa  or michelangelo did,you would have to find a very good painter who is called to paint the portrait of a millionaire's wife, he could do his best job, painting her in her best clothes she has just as mona lisa wore hers according with her time fashion, the result would be a bit reality a bit fantasy just as in the gioconda painting with a bit of strange background in the back and the girl from the painting would smile wonderfully and look great to you  but would you be impressed?  my question to you is would this have  the same impact on you and on other viewers just as those paintings had then? the answer is no, cause not many look at paintings now , for the future we have other ways of transmitting things for the future, to have the same effect as mona lisa had the artist should probably make a video on her or place her picture/painting in an event to make her remembered like everyone remembers the scene when marylin monroe smiled and her dress  was bluffed up

or other images that you can think of

my answer is don't worry there will be a time in this 21st century when everything will start to be a masterpiece again original, new suprising and wonderful and not a pathetic try to copy cat successful times that were once as they do now in fashion industry, they try to find inspiration the the 70's,60's 50's, and 80's and adapt but they haven't come with nothing new yet worthy,

  6. i think so but there are many artists that dont go big in the world. there are a lot of great ones that dont have there name out and need to be because they could be the next picasso

  7. There are actually artists today who are capable of copying those great works of art precisely and exactly. So yes, they are certainly capable. What is more, many modern artists utilize classical and Renaissance styles and concepts in their creations, and many of them reproduce realistic and complex depictions of people and objects in their work. Of course, it depends on the individual artist. Some have more talent than others. All that said, why would most of them just want to copy the styles of Da Vinci and Michelangelo? Few artists want to just be a Renaissance hack, and rightfully so.
