such as the postal service here in the US. Require all post men that drive in the city drive a golf cart or something like it same with meter mades. Now those that have to go into the country have the gas power vehicles. Yes they would have to maybe hire a few more people to delivery the male and patrol the streats and upgrade the communcationes and put out some big bucks to fit everyone but in the end we all would save.

  1. yes

  2. Yes, safe and also safe for  the environment

  3. Yes, they could.  It's a great idea.

    UPDATE;

    In reply to the street legal thing, I think it depends where you live.  I live in New York City and I've seen people do it.  Actor Ted Danson drives an electric car so clearly it works out in Cali as well as here.

  4. Golf carts are too small to carry the mail that postal workers carry.  A better idea would be to convert the urban postal trucks to hybrids.

  5. A golf cart could not handle the weight of all the mail our post man has.  They'd have to hire at least twice as many mail carriers and purchase a lot of golf carts.  Since labor is the major cost component, i don't think they'd save any money.  Save fuel? Sure.  Save money?  No.

    Forgot to mention: golf carts are not street legal.  They will impede traffic and be dangerous.  Imagine a golf cart going 20 mph with traffic around going 40, 50 mph?

  6. Yep look at all those tax dollars we will need for pensions for all these extra workers ( that's above and beyond the cost to pay them)

  7. i realy can't answer that correctly,but fedx,one of the overnight deleivey companys set their routes up to where they just turn left hand turns .it saves on mileage over their route

  8. Adding extra people to deliver the mail would cost more than the gas that they save, further more, the extra people would use more gas than saved as they drove to work.

    However, using electric vehicles is a brilliant idea and should be pursued by the post office, they must however be street legal and strong enough for the job and fast enough for the traffic conditions that they work in.

    I have driven electric work vehicles and fork lifts, and that is the way to go.
