Could the exhaust from autos be stored to be sold later?

Just wondering if the exhaust from autos is valuable to some industry. If there were a way to decompose the gases to inert chemical states or reused for later energy use that would help reduce greenhouse gas consequences. How do you store a gas? can it be compressed? Could a factory be built to process this gas?
