Could the hot celebrity couple, Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias, finally be getting married?
The glamorous and sensational tennis player/ model Anna Kournikova and the extremely good looking music pop star Enrique Iglesias have now been together for over eight years. Their highly publicized relationship started in late 2001; they met during the shooting of Enrique’s music video for the song title ‘Escape’ which starred the beautiful Kournikova. The singer was immediately mesmerized by the tennis star’s looks and since then, he has been dating Anna publicly.
The Russian professional tennis player and model, Anna Kournikova, has a well established career going on for her, becoming one of the most famous celebrities worldwide. At the peak of her career, her name was the most common search term on Google. As far as her tennis career is concerned she has reached the level of 'world number eight' in the singles. However, her strength lies in playing doubles, with regard to which, she has been ranked as the 'world number one' not just once but a couple of times now. However, Kournikova’s tennis career has almost come to a standstill, due to severe spinal problems which have not let her play regularly.
On the other hand, the Spanish singer, Enrique Iglesias has also had a thriving career in the music industry. He has had two number 1 singles on the Billboard top 100 and has the record for producing twenty one number one singles in Spanish. All of his albums have been a major success in the music business and he is still one of the most famous singers around.
Since Kournikova is no longer involved in a strenuous tennis career, questions are being put up by the public about whether this diva is now ready to settle down with her long-term boyfriend Enrique Iglesias. Is it now possible that wedding bells may be heard and that after almost nine years of dating, the hot couple is finally ready to get married? Anna and Enrique’s relationship has been in the spotlight numerous times in the past. They have been reported to have split up a couple of times and they have also been said to have gotten married secretly followed by a separation.
In the year 2003 rumors about the couple getting secretly married spread like wildfire in the media; this happened again in the year 2005. Kournikova persistently ignored such allegations and refused to confirm or deny any such information about her personal relationship with Enrique. But at that time, married or not, the couple was still together. In 2007, Enrique told the media that he and the tennis star had broken up. It was quoted by New York Sun that Enrique had said that he had no intention of marrying Kournikova, or settling down with her because their relationship had come to an end.
Later that year, the singer denied such rumors and said that he and Kournikova were still very much together. The following year, Iglesias told the Daily Star that he had married Kournikova and that they were currently separated. When this news flooded the media, Enrique said that this was only a publicity joke and that no such thing had taken place.
There have been a lot of rumors about Anna and Enrique getting married but as it has not happened, even after a long nine years, it is quite clear that they have no interest in taking their relationship to the next level. Last year it was again rumored that the couple was getting engaged when Kournikova was seen with a sparkler on her left hand; but Kournikova, who has refused to discuss her personal life in public, had made it clear in April 2008 that she was “never getting married”. Although, Iglesias has been vocal about wanting to marry Kournikova someday, recent events show that nothing is really going to be happening in the near future. The couple says that they are happy being together without having to make it official.
