    - If you're shooting for the Web or to display on a 4:3-aspect TV, you may be better off spending the premium you'd pay for an HD camera on a better-quality SD model.

    - Good high-def video usually looks much better than standard-def, especially if you'll be displaying it on an HDTV. It's more expensive, though, and editing HD video is more demanding of your hardware.

    - Camcorders with three sensors generally deliver better colour quality, since they have a dedicated sensor for each of the red, green, and blue colour primaries.
