Could the number of eggs or young ones produced by an oviparous and viviparous mother be equal?why?

  1. Generally, an oviparous animal would produce more offspring than a viviparous one.  I would think it would take more energy to be viviparous because the female has to carry her offspring longer and provide some sort of nourishment within her body.  However, this is just my opinion.
