Could the proceedings of a constitutional convention be kept secret today? Why or why not?

  1. The Cornish Constitutional Convention is kept secret by the British government so yes I guess that could also apply to the US.


  2. I can't imagine how or why. To call a constitutional convention requires a referendum vote from the population or a vote by 2/3rds of both houses of the legislature, something that would be impossible and something that no one could possibly have a reason to hide.

  3. would it would be difficult, the 1st time someones issue gets hurt  like a  proposal to ban slavery, the opponents would

    probably go public to express and rally their support for their

    views. More than likely the Constitution would be written away from the "public sessions" in small groups meeting informally and privately where a secret could be better kept.
