Could the town home management company responsible for this?

before my dad purchase the townhome last month in houston texas; he was been told by the real estate agent that water and sewerage was cover by the management company; now after 1 month he brought the townhome; water bill was send to him saying he need to pay the water bill; i talk to the real estate agent but she re-direct me to the listing agent; the listing agent told me the management company would not cover the water; can i file a complain or suit or something?

  1. It depends on the HOA.  Some HOA's pay sewer and water some don't.  If it's not in the condo docs that they cover water then your father is responsible for his own water bills.

    Now I've gotten a late notice attached to my door for the water bill from the City, turns out since the HOA's management company pays for the water they were late paying and since the City didn't know exactly who to bill they put a notice on everyone's door.

    Your father needs to speak with the Management company who oversees the property and ask if he is responsible for his own water or if this is an amenity that the Association pays for.  Does your father pay a monthly HOA fee?  If he does he needs to check with them or speak with another owner.  This should have all been explained to him prior to moving in.
