Of course there COULD be !! Space is awfully big - one estimate says there are as many stars in the universe as there are grains of sand on all the beaches in the world - that's a lot of stars.

There are equations that guess at the number of stars that are likely to have planets around them, the probability of 'Earth' type planets, the probability of life evolving etc etc.

Even using low estimates the equations suggest there may be as many as 100,000 civilisations in our galaxy alone!

So why have we not met any of them??

You have to consider the vast distances between worlds, the huge numbers of places you would have to visit before stumbling on one, they may not have the energy resources we have or simply not be interested in space exploration having evolved in a different way and civilisations rise and fall - it could be our own will never be able to leave our own solar system before economics fail. What is the incentive to explore the stars with minimal opportunities to exploit.

Shipping minerals etc would be vastly too expensive and so the only 'currency' could well be knowledge.

This is also why interstellar invasion etc is a rather stupid idea

I believe Carl Sagan said that 'It seems an awfull waste of all that space if we are alone in the Universe" (forgive if I misquote)

Personally I don't believe in aliens as it is fictional and there's no proofs of them ever being exist.

scientists are almost positive that there is bacteria on mars, because something has to be replacing the methame that is lost

There are something like 10 trillion billion stars out there.  It would be pessimistic in the extreme to assume there were only a few trillion other types of life out there.  There could be many hundreds of millions times more than that.

Yes definitely. Think how huge the universe is out there.  In our solar system alone, we have eight official plants and at least three "dwarf" planets. There are thousands upons thousands of other solar systems out there with more planets inside them. . . they must be something else living out there, right?!

Plus the universe is expanding at millions of lightyears a second!

If you don't know we are in space but where just covered with the atmosphere, which lets us breathe .

What i think is that, there is aliens because we are in one small space in our galaxy right? and with billions of stars with in our galaxy like ours, there could be a chance that there is life not saying there isn't, but its not really enough but then there's the universe with billions of galaxies with  trillions and billions of stars and planets, do you think there could be a terrestrial planet like ours or bigger smaller or a planet that can just just sustain life.

It goes from our small solar system - hardly any chance

To big galaxy - could be a chance

But what about the gigantic universe with billions of big, small to the biggest galaxies like ours with a lot of planets and stars like ours -What do could the chances be.... more than with aliens in our galaxy.

But we won't be able to find them if there in a different galaxy it would take Quadtrillions of years to travel outside our own galaxy and then to another and inside it, just some things you have to think about things are just too large :(
