I get worried, stressed, and nervous very easily, and lately it's been bothering me. It doesn't necessarily interfere with my life, but it's something that really bothers me. Like sometimes I will just get nervous, stressed or worried for no reason.

Sometimes it will happen where I feel like I'm in a dream, and it's really weird. It happened yesterday when I was at the mall and has happened a few times before. There have also been times where I will feel light-headed and like I'm going to faint, but I never actually did, and I have never fainted before.

I have told my mom (she's a nurse) about this and she said she thinks it's just a normal thing for a teen. Do you think she's right?

Sometimes I feel like I should ask the doctor about it, but I'm worried it will end up being nothing and I will look stupid or something, and my mom said I don't need to, but it still worries me.

Another thing about me is I am a shy person - just another thing about me.

Sometimes I don't even know what I'm stressed about, and when I know what I'm stressed about, I get more nervous than I should be.

Is this a silly thing to worry about? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! All answers appreciated!! Thanks!

  1. It's not a silly thing to be stressed out about. Your mom could be right, this could be just a phase, but listening to what you've said is leading me to believe otherwise. It sounds like you are suffering from panic attacks-random anxiety/fear that comes and goes for no apparent reason. If this goes on, discuss the condition with a doctor. THey might be able to help you overcome this, or give you a medication to manage it.

    Good Luck!

  2. "Sometimes it will happen where I feel like I'm in a dream, and it's really weird."

That is called "Depersonalization" and is a symptom of a panic attack. I also feel like I am in a dream when I feel anxious or have a panic attack.

From what you have told me, I think you should definitely go and see a doctor. It's no problem, it's what doctors are for! they won't think you are stupid...

    Read about "Depersonalization" here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonali...

Light-headedness can also be a sign of a panic attack, do you have any other symptoms? like racing heart, hyperventilation, sweaty hands, etc?

See your doctor, it's what they are for.
