Question:

Could this be an underarm abscess, or a pimple?

Like a few days or weeks ago I noticed that i have like a pink thing that's attached to my underarm. But it doesn't hurt, i can also shave over it and nothing happens, no pain. I thought it was like a pimple but I'm not sure. Should i just drain it out? It doesn't bother me at all. Oh and i'm 32 weeks pregnant, so i can't go to a doctor because they can't do anything because i'm pregnant. Here is a picture of it, it might be a bit blurry. What you think it is? Should i just squeeze it, to drain it?

  1. That's a pimple.

Ask your pharmacist for an anti-staphylococcal cream which you can apply, it might help to heal it.

An anti-staphylococcal cream such as Mupirocin can be used when you are pregnant. There's no danger with any form of antibiotic therapy at 32 weeks (in fact antibiotics are used for urinary tract infections that commonly occur in the third trimester of pregnancy).

Do not, on any account, squeeze or drain it. If it gets larger like an abscess in spite of antibiotic cream, ask the doctor to drain it and send the pus for a culture in case it's due to MRSA which is quite common as a cause of skin infections in the community.

  2. They can do something if it is something to worry about you need to show your OB the next time you go in for a check up.

It could be a simple skin tag, but don't do anything it would lead to an infection and make things worse. Just show a medical professional and let them give you the best answer.

    Good Luck - with everything.

  3. don't bother it let it bust on its own you don't want to infect it. Just leave it.

  4. I've had these before 2 or 3 times.  Like you said, they are not painful and you can shave over them.  Eventually they'll go away.  I wouldn't worry too much.  But since you already have to see a doctor anyway, why not show him or her?  It won't hurt to ask and it will certainly ease your mind.
