Question:

Could this be considered discrimination?

For the first 3 quarters of my 8th grade year, my average was calculated using all of my courses. When I got my final report card, I noticed that they had done it wrong. So my mom called the school and we found out that they only used my high school classes to figure out my average. (I had taken 9th grade algebra and 10th grade earth science) They said that I had been considered a high school student. As far as I know, they did this to at least one other student who had taken these classes.

  1. You were in 8th grade. That is not High School regardless of the 2 classes you mentioned. Challenge them. Appeal to the School Board.

  2. Discrimination? Nah, I think you just don't understand what's going on, lol.

EDIT: Grades are not the only thing that get you into a college. The fact you even took courses above your grade level shows better against the grades you got for them.

  3. Although I do not consider it discrimination i do think it was wrong of your school to do this to you. I would take it up with your school and show that other students didn't think it was fair. Hope your problem is resolved!

  4. You may not agree with what was done, and (although I doubt it) you may be right.  But discrimination?  C'mon now.  Definition of Discrimination: "treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination".  It hardly applies in your case..

  5. Get over it discrimination of what? STop using these stupid type of issues to try to make a point. Just plain stupid

  6. Sounds like you and your mom don't know what's going on.  You at some point are considered a high school student.  They got you on a technicality.
