I have been reading a lot on pcos and now I'm concerned that I may be affected by it. I'm in my late teens and have just recently experienced irregular period (I might miss a month and sometimes have two in one month, I don't know if stress, depression or vigorous physical activity are the cause of this) When I was younger I experienced extremely bad acne on my face and body, it was so bad that I had to take Accutane. I still have extremely oily shiny skin. Although I don't have facial hair I do grow very light hair on my back (you have to actually be up close to see it.) and what many call happy trail although it's not extream long hair or anything. I'm not overweight and do not gai weight often. And also I don't experience baldness...could this be pcos

  1. don't worry about it. to me it just seems that you have just read a book and now are seeing "monsters" in every corner. you would have a lot more symptoms of PCOS than what you have put down. if you are that worried go to the doctor and have them tell you what is going on. you just might be going through stress. you would miss a lot more than one month if you had PCOS

  2. Not necessarily.  I have everything you described and don't have PCOS.  I just have irregular periods.  Birth control cleared up the irregularity and accutane got my skin clear.  If you're really concerned, only a doctor can tell you.  Also, low thyroid can cause irregular periods.

  3. No... i would highly doubt if you had PCOS... i have pcos and increase thick hair growth, problems with weight gain, and dark patches on skin are all signs of PCOS irregular periods are common in alot of women  if you are worried about your period i would go to a gyno and maybe try birth controll it regulates your cycle
