Question:

Could this be possible? Alter the information light carries?

Could it be possible to alter light. Since light carries information. Also light can be slowed down, could the information light carries be saved and then replaced with false information, then say let lose, creating invisibility and or other optical illusions? In theory? Or no chance in heck?

  1. Light doesn't carry information

In a system where you sent information via light, it would be done in a kind of superfast morse code, with the reciever decoding the information from the order / frequency the photons hit

    Light itself is just energy

  2. Wait a second, I thought light always traveled at the same speed? It's the wave lengths that change. Light does have illusions. Stars we see in the night sky are billions of years younger than what they actually are, and be cause of the doppler effect, stars appear to be composed of diffrent elements than what they actually are when we look at their light through a spectrum. But luckily we can use math and science to get past this illusion ;)

  3. Been done,  almost ten years ago.  Practical applications are suggested but as far as I know haven't been created......yet.  I visited this institution back in the early 90's on a different project.

  4. I suppose if it were possible to capture single photons they could be altered...or capture whole groups of photons, but how would you re insert them into a coherent light/photon stream again ?

I am sure it may (someday ) be possible.

Make some sort of cloaking device like in Star Trek ? I bet you the military are already working on this !
