I was born premature. My mom said whenever I went to go down for naps, I wouldn't want to, or I would cry when I woke up because I felt sick. Now that I am 15, things like this are getting worse. I have been failing school because I miss the bus on account of diarreah, and stay home more than 32 times in a school year. When I wake up, I feel very sick. I have thrown up maybe once or twice, so it is not a big symptom. But I get horrible diarreah. It sometimes lasts throught the day. I get burning and feeling of bubbling in my intestines. Sometimes it really hurts in my abdomine or inestines. My stomach gurgles, and I just feel aweful. When I eat certain foods, I get sick like that as well. But it is hard to tell what kind of foods exactly because it varies ALOT, there is not many foods or beverages I can intake without getting sick. Any ideas? Some people think it is IBS, but I really do not think it is that. I really want to find out what it is before this school year in a few weeks, and I am scared to death to do go to the doctors. It is my worse fear. I haven't been to one in about 7 years because of this fear, and my required physicals are from the school's nurse. This has been going on my whole life basically, getting worse the past three years. I asked this before and got no answers, or no answers that helped. Please help me!!

  1. Because of the symptoms you have even a Doc could not tell you for sure what you have.

To help yourself (and the Doc's) to determine what you have you need to keep a food journal for one to two months.

every thing that you eat and drink you have to write down what it was and how much you ate and the time you ate it.

also it would be good to write down your symptoms what you are feeling

how many bowel movements you are having

    how often you pee

    how you slept

how much pain you are in

    and so on

it is common for premature kids to either have or develop food allergies

even though you may not think that there is a link to the foods that you are eating.

the only way you can know for sure is do the above

that way you can see a pattern.

if it is IBS you can change your diet to help (worked for my Hubby)

if it is an allergy you can avoid those foods.

  2. it could be celiacs disease. it affects your intestinal system and makes you sick with things like diarreah everytime you eat something with gluten in it. Gluten is an ingredient in flour, so try staying away from any foods with flour (made from wheat) in them, and check ingredients on prepackaged foods to make sure they dont have wheat gluten in them. you can still eat things made from other flours, such as rice flour. try this out, and if you dont see improvement in 3 weeks, its probably something else. also, if you DO decide to see a doctor anytime soon, ask them about celiacs disease.

  3. just keep trying a food so you get used to it, and when you miss school make sure you ask a friend to bring you the work so you can stay caught up. also, the doctors office is an amazing place! they can help you so much you REALLY need to give it a try and if you dont like it stick to what you have been doing but it cant be worse then what you are feel now

  4. I definitely feel that you should go to a doctor, especially since it has been getting worse within the last three years. It could possibly be an bacterial infection or maybe even a parasite. I don't think it is because you were born premature (premature births are very common).

Definitely have an appointment set up. I'm sure everything is fine, basically what the doctor will probably do is some lab test and the results should explain whats going on, the doctor will probably prescribe you some medication.

    Feel better!
