  1. For cripe's sake, stop browbeating the girl because her parents declawed the cat. It is NONPRODUCTIVE and IRRELEVANT.

To answer your question, leave your cat in your room for the rest of the night. Bring water in so he won't get thirsty. If you can, bring the litterbox in too, just so there are no accidents. Then in the morning, tell your parents that you have mice. Poison should NOT be used, because of the risk of your cat eating a poisoned mouse. It could kill your cat if he ate one.

And good on you for being so worried about your kitty.

  2. That is a possible reason, as the mouse could have (somehow) passed on something to your cat.

Also, have you changed your cat's diet recently?  If you have, this could be the cause, as you have to mix in a little more of the new food with the old over a week, so the cat's stomach gets used to it.

Go to bed, and talk to your parents about it when they're awake.  That's the best thing you can do right now.

  3. My darling, when you are old enough to have your own cat. Please, please do not declaw your animal.  If you feel you need to do that, dont have animals just have some teddy bears or stuffed toys.

Yes, it is possible that you cat has been bitten by the rat.  (by the way, you  explained yourself quite well)

Tell your parents about the mouse in the morning (early). There is never just one mouse.  Also they need to know your cat is not well.

Your cat cannot protect itself from any danger without claws... including rats and mice.  Your cat can be trained to not claw furniture, or any of the things people get them declawed for.  It requires patience.

Leave your lights on in your room and keep your cat with you.  If at all possible, bring the litterbox into your room for the night.  Try to keep your cat in bed with you if you are comfortable with that.  Lights are a deterent to rats.  I hope your cat is not ill from rodent bites.

  4. If your cat had eaten teh mouse, he could have gotten sick. He may also be eating mouse poo or sth. so yes, perhaps you should call the vet in the morning. By the way: DON'T USE ANY POISONOUS THING TO KILL THE MOUSE, YOU'LL PROBABLY KILL YOUR CAT.

and do keep the cat in your room, but bring his litterbox and water inside.

  5. your cat has been declawed??

declawing is the disgusting practice of mutilating cats paws. it is the equivalent of amputating a human finger off at the first knuckle. i am appauled that anyone would even consider putting an animal through that

i dont think the mouse is the problem unless it has been eating mouse/rat poison, which could in turn be passed on to your cat.....but this is highly unlikely if you cat hasnt consumed the mouse. your cat could be stressed. a cat's natural instinct is tokill, and when he caught the mouse and could not use his claws he would have got very stressed. just think about how you feel when you are extremely stressed......you might feel nausea or butterflies. animals feel exactly the same thing. just calm and reassue your cat, make ure there is fresh water available (if he has diarhoea dont give food yet) and if he is still sick when your parents wake up, a trip to the vet is in order.

but seriously, next time instead of declawing your cat, you may as well put it down because a cat's claws are used for many things, including marking its territory and digging. if he was scratching the furniture, why not get a scrathing post? there are so many more humane ways to go about problem behaviour.
