Hi I am Selling a new Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch on Craigslist. I recently got a message from some one saying that they would send me a Certified Cashiers Check. The price i have set for the watch is $6,500.00 US dollars. He said that he would send me the check and for me to send him the watch.

I just wanted to know if I took the check to my bank to get it verified and make sure it is legit and if everything go's good and the money is in my bank. Is there a way he can make up a story or if it was another persons check is there a way they can get the money back and i will lose out? our if he does get his money back some how or if its someone else's money and they get it all back will i still have that amount in my bank or will they take it all out and i will be stuck with nothing? Please help i don't really know what to do.

  1. Deposit the check ans wait until it clears then go to the bank and ask the manager to check and make sure it cleared and that there's no way that it didn't.  Then send the watch.

  2. A cashier's check isn't like a personal check. It's not drawn from someone's account, to get it, you already have to have paid for it in advance. It's just like cash, except that only one person can use it -- you -- and that person needs to show ID.

However, just like if he tells you he put cash in an envelope and sent it to you, the check may be fake. Or he may not have sent you anything at all.

Don't send the watch before you have taken the check to your bank and had it cashed!

After that, once your bank says it's real, you don't have to worry about it anymore. He cannot get the money back.
