Last night my Mom got mad at me so she pushed me down into my bed and pulled my hair really hard. I think she grabbed my head. She then smacked my face to grab my glasses then she threw them onto the ground. It has been about 20 hours since this and I still have a headache. I am so worried that I got brain damage so I have been sitting on my bed worrying. My only symptom is a headache.....Because I didn't black out or lose conciousness do you think it didn't cause any damage?'

I heard CAT scans are thousands of dollars. I want to go to the doctor to get checked out but it is way too expensive.

Also, I I said that someone hit me, would they make me tell them who? My Mom said that if I told her she hit me she would lie and say that I made it up and I hit her then I would go to jail.

I am soooo worried!! Someone please help!!! I am so worried that I have permanent damage. If I only have a headache is that a good sign? If I didn't black out does that mean no brain damage occured

  1. Calm down, you don't have brain damage.  If you had brain damage, you probably would have some sort of seizure or something.  You probably just have a sore spot on your head.

My concern is that your mom hit you like that.  You guys shouldn't be fighting like that.  Since, it has gotten to the point that there is physical contact, then you guys need some counseling.  You and your mom need to talk and see if there is a way for you guys to get back on the same page.  Good luck.

  2. You are correct in thinking reporting this might get your Mom in trouble.

I gather that this is not a pattern of behavior with her. Something pushed her button, and you really need to know what and why.

Ask her if the two of you can go to a Counselor together.  You can have an interchange through a Counselor that would never get off the ground at home. You need to know what provoked her, She needs to know how to deal with it other than with violence.

Everyone "loses it" on occasion.  There may be a lot of problems bothering your Mom.

I imagine it is the situation and the tenseness after the episode that is causing your headache.

Ask her to see someone with you.

  3. Your brain is fine. You need to tell someone about this. Soon. Abuse is not okay. And this definitly constitutes as abuse. Let a trusted adult know!

  4. First of all how old are you?  Why would your mother hit you like that?  More than likely you will not suffer any brain damage.  Take some tylenol for the headache.  I am concerned that you may be abused and you are being manipulated not to seek help. Professional personnell are specially trained and are able to uncover the person responsible for injuring or threatening you.  Good luck and God Bless.  Don't let this abuse go on another day !!!!
