Okay well I am looking for a horse to buy and I came across one that says a good reigning and cutting prospect. I was wondering would the horse also be good at barrel racing?

  1. ASOLUTLY, if it is a riener and a cutting horse alsready then it already knows its cues. all you whould need to do is train it the barrel pattern (which isnt hard) so yes it whould make a great barrel horses once it leans the pattern.belive me i am a barrel racer. i train and raise all my own horses. PS quarter horses make the best barrel racers

  2. if you train it in barrels.. then probably.

but by prospect, it most likely means the horses isnt trained in it.

you coudl email the owners and see what they think, they can tell you better than anyone on Y!A anyway

but reining and cutting means good off your leg cues. you could train any horse in barrels.. but not any horse is always good (does that makes sense? like not every horse will be good/fast)

  3. sure they can you need to train it though.....or i suggest reining it is another fun sport to do

here is a video of freestyle reining

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZIYM76mY... reining is the western style of dressage

cutting is fun to even though i've never done it but it looks fun

try not to focus only on barrels you can do alot more other stuff and double your money here are some suggestions

cutting, reining, any gymkhana event, goat tying, team roping etc or if you really want to get tough you can do rough stock like bulls, broncs steer wrestling etc...haha sorry prolly to much info good luck
