Yes it can, but only if left for a long time. If you vacuum it up and take it our right away it wont hurt. Keeping it there doesnt allow air to the motor and it will burn out.

yea.......lol my brother and hard to believe: my dad also leaves them all around the houe and i ended up vaccuming my brothers undies in there! lol
