  1. Why would you want to. A desalination plant and a pipeline to the nearest ocean would be more effective, and cost efficient.

  2. If the U.S. and other large industrialized countries continue to pollute the air with greenhouse gases, most of the ice in the Antarctic will melt into the ocean - thus becoming salt water.  Why don't we stop polluting our air and water as well as clean up the rivers and lakes that we've already polluted here in the U.S.?  We could also stop wasting water in our homes and businesses.  That would be far cheaper than attempting to extract water from Antarctica and building desalination plants.

I'm certain everyone would then have enough clean water to drink, bathe, and wash things.  If we cease the exploitation of our homeland there won't be any perceived need to exploit anywhere else.

  3. Setting up desalination plants in Antarctica would be more trouble than they're worth.  First of all, to get people down there to build and maintain the thing would not be something many people would do.  Also, why not just desalinate regular water?  You won't have to waste energy melting it first.  Using regular water would be much more practical than going down to Antactica.

  4. Hasn't america fecked up enough of the planet already?

  5. no dont touch antartica

    yes use deselination plants

  6. It may be possible but it is not quite advisable to do that as you may harm the ecosystem there.it is also very very difficult.

Also melting more glaciers is not going to help as sea level will rise.

So the best thing would be to have desalination plants.
