As Gerry arrived in Argentina, the Customs let all his highly dutiable articles of equipment such as cameras, film, a Land Rover and so on into the country without a murmur; but, for some reason only known for the Almighty and the scintillating brains in the Aduana, they confiscated all Gerry's nets, traps, cage-fronts and worthless but necessary items of collecting equipment.
Due to this reason, for three week Gerry, Josefina and Mercedes spent every day in the bowels of the Massive Customs House, being passed from office to office with a sort of clock like regularity which was so monotonuos and so frustrating that one really began to wonder if the brain would last out of the course. While waiting, Mecedes regarded Gerry anxiously as Josefina moved in and out of fleeing pedestrians in a way that made his stomach turn over. When Mercedes asked him how he was feeling, he bitterly answer that he was feeling wonderfuly and that he was glad to be in such a place. Mercedes realised his irony so she tried to calm him down telling that they would see a " Señor (mister) Garcia." Gerry responded that they had seen at least fourteen Señor Garcias and that he had wasted three weeks of his life when he could have been filming and collecting animals. Hopeless, they left the costums to face another problems.
Surprisingly, after a few days of wait, the Customs releasedthe equipment, so Gerry planned his route to the south.
