well people bred big cats down to domestic cats making them smaller in size.

so if you can breed something to be smaller then you should be able to breed something bigger.

so if you bred a lizzard up to be really big then you could have a dragon like thing.

and i heard somewhere that you can attatch your finger back if you had it cut off and it works so could you attatch something from a diffrent creature to another? (im not going to try any of this im just interested. im against animal cruelty im just curious)

so would it actually be possible to breed up a dragon or a big lizzard like dragon?

  1. No, we cannot create a dragon.Because its just an imaginary animal.Creating an Archeopteryx is possible in future because it is well known that Birds are evolved progenies of Dianosores. Similarly Dianosores like Trex can also be created because recently its DNA have been found in  fossils. But making a dragon is impossible because it is just a legend and a fantacy character like we find in any mythology. We dont have proofs of its existence. Its okay that it is a Huge reptile with scales on body and wings to fly but "Fire blowing mouth" is just a nonsense. Thats why I am saying that a "Dragon as Depicted in Chinese mythologies" is impossible to create.

  2. The dragon is a mythical creature of which some interpretation or depiction appears in almost every culture worldwide. The physical description and supposed abilities of the creature vary immensely according to the different cultures in which it appears. However, the unifying feature of almost all interpretations is it being a serpentine or otherwise reptilian monster (or at least possessing a serpentine/reptilian part or trait), and often possessing magical or spiritual qualities. so v can't create dragon...

  3. I think we first must define a dragon. Are you talking about a western dragon with wings and breathes fire, a Celtic Wyrm or Oriental Dragon - one without wings?

In theory we have a few reptiles that could meet the requirements for a dragon. There's the Komodo dragon which grows up to 10 foot long, does it need to be bigger?

And flight, there's plenty of reptiles that use the power of gliding for flight, for instance Draco - a winged lizard, does our dragon have to have powered flight?

If we could do a "Jurassic Park", there's plenty of extinct Pterosaurs that would suit most of our dragon requirements straight away.

However to answer your question, selective breeding / genetic manipulation could produce something that could meet our requirements. Personally I wouldn't want to create a Frankenstein hybrid where the required parts were put together as it would not produce offsrping that were not of it's own genetic makeup.

So how to create the fire breathing... that's an interesting question. I've seen one film/documentary which suggests the best way this could be done would be to have two nozzles within the mouth which link up to different reservoirs; when these are forced out and combine, they produce fire... something of the chemists out there to suggest good ideas :)

  4. Yes. All that you've said is possible...

Through selective breeding, you could gradually increase the size of a lizard (TO A CERTAIN POINT) and then it may resemble a dragon. You can also, in rare circumstancse, attach parts of one creature to another. However, this is very rare and very difficult, and the added bit will likely not be functional.

  5. That depends on what you mean by "dragon". If you mean the ones in the D&D games, not bloody likely. You would need to install a third pair of limbs and the musculature to move them. You would also need bones for these muscles to attach to. That would mean adding a great deal of material in a very restricted space. The next time you eat a chicken, take a look at all the bones and muscles (White meat) needed to support the use of a fairly puny pair of wings. In addition, there would have to be changes to the respiratory system to allow the dragon to take in enough oxygen.  Don't even think about breathing fire. Sorry, no dragons for you.
