Question:

Could you ever wish for a parent's death?

Consider this hypothetical situation:

He is a useless drunk. You know that his very existence is a source of misery for himself and many others. To you he is but an annoyance, like an itch in the middle of your back that is hard to reach but with enough effort you are able to scratch it. Yet you can see with others whom you love he creates nothing but unhappiness and distress.

Now, given all of this, don't you think it'd be best if such a person were dead?

  1. A parents death?  Uh no.

  2. No, that would be wrong.

The thing to do is pray for healing for your old man, you, and your family. Then, pray for strength in handling yourself and the situation you find yourself in. That doesn't mean that all you do is pray and nothing else, it just means that as you search for the answers, you take apropriate action. You can't control him, but you can control how you react and how you live each day of your life.

The world's got tons of seemingly useless people in it, but my friend, they're only seemingly useless because of our perception. That useless drunk can (if you let him/his actions) lead you to a place where you can gain strength from his weakness and learn to help heal and protect those that you love.

Think about it! And good luck!

  3. I don't know because I'm not in your situation. Though, I can recall many times that I wanted my dad to die because he is the biggest a$$hole I know. I would never want my dad to die, it's more so that I don't want to live or be around him all the time. I could never wish for any of my parents to die, I just think it sometimes when I've had enough.

  4. Yes.  I am glad that you asked.  My father once offered my brothers and I advice on a Christmas gift for a severely mentally ill relative.  The gift of suggestion was a bullet with a bow around it.  Ironically, this very suggestion he gave may end up on his own lap this Christmas.  Merry Christmas Pops!

  5. If he happens to be my dad, of course its not proper to wish he will die. No matter how bad a person is, there will always be a good side attached to it. Moreover, he's still your dad and you owe him your life. If its not for him, you wouldn't be alive today.

  6. NO
