    the scale is from 1 - 14

    where pH 7 is the neutral (either acid or base)

    lower than 7 means that the liquid is acidic

    while higher than 7 means that the liquid is basic

    in testing the pH, a litmus paper is used

  3. It relates to the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution. It can also be used in an equation  known as the Henderson-Hasselbach equation to find the equilibrium constant of the reaction.
