Could you explain why Mandarin is so easy to learn?

  1. To add to what Terra Nostra said, Mandarin also has less tones than Cantonese, another Chinese dialect. Cantonese has about seven, whereas Mandarin only has four (officially five, counting the "non-tone").


  2. The verbs are not conjugated, there are no articles, no singular and plural forms, no feminine and masculine.

    The only hard part (apart from the writing) is the pronunciation.
