recommend from personal experience and what would be an absolute no no. Should be reliable and not very expensive.

  1. The anti-Hotpoint views are interesting, since I've had one and it worked fine. The last machine I had was a Bosch, and it failed quite quickly. Interestingly, the engineer told me that the pump was actually a Hotpoint component, as many of them are, so how's about that?!

Dishwasher prices seem to vary with The Name, ho hum, the number of functions (most of which I never use), and the volume of noise you get out of the thing.

This time I've chosen an Indesit IDL 530, and although it's undoubtedly noiser than its more expensive precessors, it works well (I've had it for 6 months), it cleans to a sparkling finish and was cheap. I happily recommend it.

  2. I have got a Hotpoint Aquarius DF61 that my daughter gave me about 3 years ago when she had her kitchen done.  She had it for about 5 years or more and up to now, it's worked fine and it does what it says on the tin - it washes dishes.  All dishwashers are basically the same - just different labels on them.  They all seem to have the same basic layout but you ought to get one that is energy rated A or B to save you money on your running costs.  Only trouble is they make you very lazy, even about washing a few plates and mugs.  And you will need to stock up on crockery, etc.  My cupboards are full of mugs because we keep making a cup of tea and then put the mugs in the dishwasher!  Mind you, I do use it every day and it does get the tea stains off the mugs.

  3. Hi

i have had a tricity bendix for many years now(free standing)very good and reliable. Also not that expensive in comparison.Mine has been trouble free.

  4. Miele if you can afford them. Avoid Hotpoint.

If you buy from John Lewis, they have a free 3 year guarantee on many machines. I'd probably go for one of the Siemens models.
