  1. 1.) Compound -- Compounds are comprised of multiple elements.  Elements are on the periodic table.  Things like hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, gold, sodium, and magnesium.  Put a couple together, like sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl) and, after electron swapage, you get a compound, sodium chloride (NaCl)--or in our case hydrogen (H) and Oxygen and get water, H2O.

2.)  5 -- There are 5 atoms in the compound Fe2O3 (Rust): 2 Fe (Iron) atoms and 3 O (Oxygen) atoms.  Just like there are two atoms in the above compound, NaCl: 1 Na (Sodium) atom and 1 Cl (Chlorine) atom.

  2. 1) B. It's a compound because it is H20,

2). d because there are 2 iron atoms and 3 oxygen atoms

    Good luck in Chem!!
