Could you help stop Global Warming by keeping the Air Conditioner on all day?

  1. Even if you could utilize all the cold air produced, you'd be warming the atmosphere because ACs are not 100% efficient .


  2. Good one.  I actually got in an argument with a friend about this.  I told him that a refrigerator MAKES heat and he didn't believe me.

  3. No, because by doing that you are using up more energy. The AC will make the room cooler, but the outside warmer, and it uses up energy for that heat transfer.

    Air conditioners generate a lot of heat in the back, so it won't be changing any temperatures.

  4. No. because you have to use energy to make air conditioning and that power comes from power plants which burn coal which pollute the air, which is the cause of global warming.
