No food delivery, you cooked for yourself. Read newspapers the old way, read books. I ask each of us to try living a 1950's lifestyle one weekend. Of course, use the cellphone, e-mail for emergency reasons only. Let's go back in time.

  1. NO way I could never live like that.

I cant imagine my life without internet or cellphones.

  2. its not that hard i did it

  3. I don't want to return to the 50s. I like modern life. Anyhow, I have four kids, and the youngest are in diapers and I don't want to go back to cloth ones--no way---

  4. GREAT IDEA - i grew up in the fifties and as a child, i was very happy going out to play, one tv and no video games kind of made me do that.  i have no regrets because i learned to do things that i enjoyed. today, i use the computer and the cell, it's all to get our money and boy are they succeeding.  every new toy and game is to get your money.  maybe we should take a better look at your question and give it a try.  why not?

  5. and your point is ?

  6. Why the 50's........why not we go back to 3000 years before.........? that is great.

  7. The fifties was before my time, but I remember much of the sixties, and we lived quite happily without all of those things. In fact, much of what people today think they NEED are really just strong "wants" tied to advertising and social expectations. Have dinner with your family sometime...you'd be surprised what's really on their minds. Go ahead, logout, turn off the TV, hang up the cell phone and introduce yourselves.

  8. They were the best of times. Lots of good parenting going on

  9. could I do it today , no way at all , because we have all these modern conveniences and I sometimes experience withdrawal pains when I forget my cellphone.

But if I had lived in those days , I could have done it because there was nothing better than what I had .

I ma glad that God chose to put me on this earth now than in the past . It certainly makes things easier and is the norm for everyone today . Fifty years from now , they will probably look back and say , man how did those poor people make it through the day ? We do though.

  10. That would make a great reality show, wouldn't it? LOL

  11. YES IT WAS GREAT...THE WORLD WAS SIMPLER AND I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT BACK!!

  12. A TV show you forgot to mention is Andy Griffith.

Mom's a tremendous way to disiplin your kiddies, is tell them to go outside for 2 hours.  Make sure their bicycle tires are inflated, and make sure they have some balls outside to play with.

Take the family to a park, NO cell phones or techno-games for the day.  And why not do a real old fashioned pic-nic with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and an apple for dessert.  :)

Life is good now, but nothing can compare to a world without technology, where people interact face to face.

You'd be amazed at how close you become to others.

    Thanks for the incentive

Think we'll do the pic-nic thing today!
