I confused about when to use "Se". Could you essentially use it in any sentence? For example "Se me duele" (which I'm guessing means it hurts me) or is that incorrect? Could someone help me please!!! Thank you!!

  1. me duele la pierna

    me duele el corazon

  2. when  you  use  "se" in english is like

    it is  said..

you  must  say  .. me  duele  instead of .. se  me  duele  // incorrect

you use "se "when you  are  replacing " it "  for  example  .. se  usa

in english  ---it is used to..

  3. I'm not sure what the problem is with es...

There are specific verbs which can be reflexive.  Not all verbs.  for instance...there is no such thing as serse, or estarse, or vivirse.

Se me duele is NOT reflexive.  IT is hurting YOU, so the subject and object are not the same.  Se is there as a nonspecific subject pronoung.

se dice....they say.  se me duele...it hurts me.  se come...it is eaten.

    Not reflexive.

  4. No, not all verbs can be reflexive verbs.  It is incorrect to say "se me duele" it would be just "me duele."  Reflexive verbs are hard and basically it's one of those sets of verbs that you just need to memorize.  You won't know them all of course so after memorization, the only other way to learn them is trial and error.  Usually if you watch Spanish tv or listen to Spanish radio, you will hear a lot of reflexives and see how they are used.  Eventually you'll just "know" which ones are and which aren't correct to use with "se."  Practice makes perfect so keep a dictionary handy and there should be a list of reflexive verbs in there.  Any other questions about Spanish, feel free to email me....I'd be happy to help.
