Could you make general in the army with a specialty in aviation?

Like if i become a commissioned officer and have my specialty be in aviation , is it possible to make general in the U.S. Army? i know you have a better chance with a combat arms speciality but could it be done with aviation? whats the highest rank reached by a commissioned officer in the army with a specialty in aviation?

  1. Good question.  Please be aware that Army aviation is a combat arms branch.  In general, a Army officer will be elgiable for comand billets outside of their MOS (job)  As the Army is moving toward a Brigade centered layout, Regiments will become fewer and fewer.  

    In general, a Regiment is led up by a Cornel.

    A Brig. General will comand any of the Aviation brigades upon appointment.  (2nd, 4th, 6th etc)

    You can make a 4 star general as a Army Aviation Officer.  Please be aware though, that as you move up the ranks, your actually contact with aircraft deminishes steadily.
