  1. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (with Audrey Tautou she also played in Da vinci code)

    L'auberge espagnole (Romain Duris)

    Les poupées russes (Romain Duris)

Un long dimanche de fiançailles (Juliette Binoche)

8 femmes (with Catherine Deneuve, f***y Ardant...)

La môme it's the title in french for la vie en rose with Marion Cotillard)

    Monsieur Batignole (with Gérard Jugnot)

    Taxi 1, 2 ,3

  2. my favorite french cartoon movie is Triplets of Belleville but that doesn't have much dialog so it wouldn't help with the French learning, but you should check out a funny musical called 8 femmes, has a nice surprise ending too, sorry if my suggestions are too girly for you

  3. My fave French cartoon is Astérix et Obélix.  They've made a film of it too.  I'm not sure it would help in learning French though, sorry!

  4. I'm not sure these are classics, but here is a list of French language film's I"ve watched in the last year or so.  The ones I can remember the names of anyway:

    Avenue Montaigne

    Mon meilleur ami

    Paris je t'aime

    La vie en rose

    Dans Paris

    L'auberge espagnole

    Les poupees russes

    Jetlag

    Le temps du loup

    Amelie

Tomorrow night, I'm going with my French class to see Flight of the Red Balloon with Juliette Binoche.

If I think of any more, I'll come back and add to this list.

  5. The problem is that many classic films are spoken in colloquial high speed French or with lots of slang. You can try 'La fabuleuse histoire d'Amelie Poulain', it is fun and they speak quite clearly. You can also order films you know on a French website so that you have the dialogs in French. Knowing what the actors are talking about helps a lot (I used that trick many time while teaching English)

As for cartoons, Kirikou, Le roi et l'oiseau, Corto Maltese...

Edit : Exactly. You know what is being said so you don't have to struggle with words and meaning. It makes the dialogs easier to understand.
