Could you please answer this laptop question?

Everytime I have my ipod plugged into my laptop my laptop wont turn on it just starts up to a black screen. To fix this I have to unplug my battery and then go to my dell media direct thing and from there shut down the laptop then turn it back on. By the way i have a dell xps.

  1. It sounds as if your laptop is trying to boot from the ipod hard drive; change the boot sequence in BIOS to boot from the hard drive first. I think on a Dell you hit F2 at the Dell screen.

    If that doesn't fix it perhaps there is an updated BIOS available. Best not to leave your iPod plugged in, I suppose!


  2. your Dell XPS laptop is trying to boot from the ipod's hdd (hard disk drive) to fix it push and hold down the power buttion until the laptop shutsdown,unplug the ipod then boot up the computer then after you sign in to windows plug in your ipod into the usb port on the computer  

  3. I guess whats happening is that the laptop tries to boot via the iPod. Simply turn off boot with a USB device in BIOS or make the HDD as your first boot choice..
