When men have realized that the time has upset many fighting faiths, they may come to believe, more than they believe the very foundations of their own conduct, that the ultimate good desired is better reached by a free trade in ideas--that the best test of truth is the power of the thought to get itself accepted in the competition of the market; and that the truth is the only ground upon which their wishes safely can be carried out.

when the country understands that time has not solved the fights of religions, even more than they believe of their own faiths and practices, that the greater good is to accept people for what they believe and  allow them to express it without prejudice or judgement, and the best test  is to accepted when it isn't in fashion or allowed, and in the truth of the mission is the only thing that can convince.
