Use Hubble’s Law to determine the distance to a quasar receding at 80% the speed of light. The speed of light is 300,000 km/sec Assume that Hubble’s constant is H0 = 2.2 x 10-5 .

  1. Using v = H0 * D ---> D = v / H0

    80% of speed of light is v = 0.8 * c.
