  1. Yes, thank you.

  2. RETARTED DISCO DONKEY

  3. What does it mean to solve for a variable?

    It means to perform operations on an equation

    to isolate the variable in question

    on one side of the = sign

    and all else on the other side

    So just do that

    one problem @ the time

    I'll get you started with three chosen ones

    and let you take it from there.

    1. 3M - N = 2M + N

    Solve for M.

    First get all the M terms

    on the left side

    3M - 2M = 2N

    M = 2N ====the answer

    5. 2(U + 3V) = W - 5U

    Solve for U.

    Since U is inside the ()

    we have to mult. it out

    2U + 6V = W - 5U

    7U = W - 6V =====the answer

    And one more:

    7. 2/3F + 5/12G = 1 - FG

    Solve for F.

    First get rid of the fractions

    by determining the lowest common denominator

    of the two which is 12

    So mult. all by 12

    8F + 5G = 12 - 12FG

    Here you have to get the G

    out of the 12FG

    8F + 12FG + 5G = 12

    F(8 + 12G) = 12 - 5G

    F = (12 - 5G) / (8 + 12G)

    This was a tricky one.

    But I hope you can follow

    the procedure without

    my commentary.

    The idea of the whole set of problems

    is to get the asked for variable on one side

    and all else on the other.

  4. you have to get the like terms together like the nones with N or Y. put all of those on one side of the equal sign. get the Y on one side of the equal sign
