I recieved a a personal check for $40.00 that was mailed to me on may 5,2008.

  1. Yes.  Checks are good for 6 mos.


  2. The check is good for deposit but whether there are funds to cover it is another matter. Call the bank name on the check and ask if there are funds enough to cover forty dollars.

  3. I believe you have 6 months to cash a check. I would let the person who wrote the check know that you are going to cash it.

  7. Checks "stale date" after 6 months. So you have until November to deposit the check.

    Often there will be a deadline on the cheque/check itself, it is usually six months or something like that.  You shouldn't have a problem depositing it.

  9. Yes, I work for a bank and usually the "shelf life" of a check is about 6 months. Don't go a day over that or processing can return your check...

  10. As long as it does not say anywhere on the check "void after (so many days)" The check will still be good! I work at a bank, I get this question all the time!

  11. I don't see why not..  A check does not expire in a few months.  Whether the person still has money in their account to fund it is a different story.
