  1. quality control is something that needs to be done to enable them to manufacture the same thing over and over.

All the parts etc should be of the same quality and have no faults.

  2. The simple answer is to make sure everything stays at  least at a set level. So the person buying the part doesn't get a low quality/non-working item usually.

  3. From a business point of view, it is a key component of continued growth.

It also improves company image/reputation, customer relations and employee pride in their work.

That ought to do for starters !

  4. All companies have a minimum set of standards and quality that their product or service has to meet.  Quality Control is a set of procedures used and followed to ensure that the required minimum set of standards and quality are met.  If the product or service is not meeting minimum requirements, a Quality Control committee meets to discuss changes in procedures that will help improve product or service quality.  Keep in mind that meeting minimum standards in no way guarantees excellence in quality to the customer.  Some company's minimum required standards are actually pretty poor quality in product or service.  For some companies, they only do as little as necessary to make a product safe.  That does not mean it is a good product in any way.  Like the example used about McDonalds.  They have quality controls in place on how to handle and cook meat and cleaning surfaces that meat touch to ensure you do not get food poisoning.  That does not mean the quality of their burgers are any good.  It just means it won't kill you if you eat it.

  5. customer satisfaction

    safety

    efficiency (production line)

    demonstrable regulatory compliance

    good quality = good reputation

quality control implies some kind of audit trail:

an audit trail aids finding the cause of faults

an audit trail aids further research and development

Quality control implies using statistics, thus it gives you a meaningful, objective measure of how your manufacturing is doing.

  6. To ensure that the same quality is maintained over and over during production and throughout the supply chain - as companies within the supply chain may let you down and reduce the quality/specification to save on costs. - A business needs qc to reduce these risks.

The objective is to get an acceptable performance level from the product.

You also need to put controls in to comply with the law, some products are required to compy with Laws and you must provide a defence for due diligence if the product was found to be illegal by a governing body (trading standards) and show them that you did everything in your power to ensure that it complied with the law or standard

If your systems are good enough you can constantly ensure that your products comply with the law or any standards that may apply to the product.

    Good luck!!

  7. Quality control is important to maintain a set level of quality or performance for a system. it doesnt mean that all parts of of they highest quality, just that you are aware of what sort of quality you have.

Mcdonalds is a classic example. Their quality control system is very good, and rigid, even though their food is awful!
