I'm studying to be an ESL teacher, and I have an opportunity to attend a Project WET n Aquatic WILD training workshop in August. Has anyone used units from these programs before? What grade level did you teach the lesson to, and how did it go? I would have to take a day off from work to attend the workshop, so if it's a waste of time I would just as soon not go. If these programs really have something to offer, however, I don't want to miss the opportunity to bring something new to the classroom when I student teach next fall. Thanks in advance for your input!

  1. YES....these are both excellent programs. The resources they provide, along with the training, allow teachers to easily bring in relevant lessons related to science and the environment in fun, hands-on ways that use critical thinking. I am a college professor in a college of education, and we bring Project WET to our students each year. I know Project WILD, and it's also excellent, but we just haven't worked with that organization to bring someone in. Also...I don't know if Project Learning Tree is in all states, but that's another EXCELLENT program. Usually the lessons can range from K-8, with some application to high school as well...Good luck!
