  1. Not that I have heard of but what is recommended is to just call 911 and leave the phone on and they will trace the call and find you...

  2. they say u dont have to talk just dial 911 and dont have to talk

  3. We have people that are trained and paid to answer 911 calls. Why should we have people to answer and be paid for a text message? I takes time to write a message and in an emergency it is much easier to push 911.

  4. hmm, that's a great question.... And if it's not an option I believe it should be....  Like if you're that hurt though, texting might also be too hard to do...  But maybe a certain button on the cell that automatically links to 911 to get help.... It could use the gps to locate you automatically, so no need for any info.... And it could work on the same principle as that medic alert button that older people have.... Like my grandmother has one of those and if she pushes it, the system automatically calls her house so if it was a false alarm and pushed by mistake she could just tell them that, but if there is no answer, an ambulance would automatically be dispatched.... The cells could use the same concept where if the button is pushed they could call the cell to check if it's a true emergency or not...

Any technology/cell phone programming people here??? Cuz this is a great idea to try to look into.....  All cell phones should have an option to call 911 automatically and w/o using too much buttons or having to talk or anything....  Actually i think right now you could just dial 911 and if you don't say anything they'll track you down also...  but i like this idea, a simple 1 button process....  makes a lot of sense

  5. Currently, there are literally only a handful of 911 centers that are testing receiving text 911 calls.  So to safely answer your question, no, you cannot text 911.  Receiving text and pictures from cell phones is part of the next generation of 911; but any large scale implementation of this is still several years away.
