Couldn't we solve the food inflation problem by plowing under all of America's golf courses and plant corn?

This would solve MANY of the problems facing America, now that I think about it...

  1. On one hand you could increase the bio fuel source of ethanol but on the other hand not all golf courses are a conducive environment for agriculture. Then there is the shipping of the crops to a central location for processing. Now you've added the cost and fossil fuel usage to the mix. The increased cost far outweighs the benefits.

If there were no golf courses the men would have to stay home and do chores around the house and get hen pecked by their wives all day. Again the cost outweighs the benefits.

I say let's keep the golf courses.

  2. Great! Get the rich golfer to give up their business and be a farmer in the golf courses. Cool

  3. nope  because most courses are located in areas that subdivisions are already planned for so all you would get are more houses.

  4. I can see it now....  Headlines will read :

'Augusta Now Food Industry Field of Dreams'

'FOUR, Inflation Hits all Time High'

'Tennis Courts Are built for Those Recovering in the Great Corn Crisis'

'Corny Plans to Level Baseball Fields'

'Hayday For Critics on Pop-Corn Solutions'

What the heck are you suggesting?

  5. I'm not positive but I would think that with the pesticides and fertilizers they put on those course to keep them as nice as they are..I bet you would not want to eat what is grown on that land.

I was told by a grounds keeper that you should not even lay your clubs on the grass because it gets on the grips then on your hands then your eat and snack and wipe your face with your hands.

  6. Yes! That would be a great idea. We could also plant corn all over the NASCAR tracks to. All the playground could host corn fields, along with parks and pools and amusement parks and sleigh riding hills.

Then fathers could spend more time with sons and daughters doing chores and tending to the new corn fields.

Golfers could just skip the golfing part and go straight to the tavern. The they could drive those golf carts home, because they are not being used for anything. The golf carts could be teen drivers cars. How cool would that be!!!!!!

Golfers could be home with their families telling stories that are more boring than their golf game, because there is no golf. They would tell barbecuing stories, or yard work stories, or bike riding stories.

There would be more bowler, because that is another sport that you get to sit and drink while playing.

  7. I don't know where you live that land is scarce but it's not here in the US. Maybe the US government should stop paying farmers huge subsidies to not grow corn. That seems to be the easiest and most common sense approach to me.

You've asked this question in two other forums, New & Events and Economics and it hasn't been well received.

It just doesn't seem to be good idea, does it?

  8. Go to the tree hugger section this is the golf section.

  9. No because it still will cost money to actually to plow the field, fertilize, raise the corn and then harvest and package it. (Not to mention advertise and distrubute it as well).

Nice to see someone is thinking about it though.

  10. Good Idea.

  11. You've been watching George Carlin haven't you? Not a novel idea.

  12. I'm working on a "corn-wedge" right now! And we can putt on the "crop-circles". Cool.

  13. Why don't we bulldoze you house down and plow it under and plant corn on it.  Would that help?  Dude grow up!
