I took some rubbish to the council tip last week. And at the side of the skip was eight boxe`s of floor laminate brand new.also a new office chair. I did ask the workman if i could take them. sorry he said it has to go to a land fill site not aloud to take anything. And they are stressing to us with all the different bins to sort and recycle. [Thanks council keep on recycling]

  1. You'll probably find that the council worker wanted the items for themselves so was telling anybody that showed an interest the same thing. Trust me the councils are recycling if they don't then they have to pay a hefty fine for not doing so.

  2. Some councils are better than others.

One thing that would help is making sure items like that don't reach landfill in the first place. They could be sold, donated to charity or given away.

Check out the Freecycle network that aims to do exactly that in order to keep usable items from reaching landfill in the first place.
