Counter Strike to make long awaited comeback
Valve have gone on to quench the thirst of millions of video gamers from across the world, as they have gone on to reveal that Counter Strike will be making its long awaited comeback next year.
E – Sports Entertainment, which is a video games community, revealed that the game was going to be released in the not-so-distant future.
Following the revelation from E – Sports Entertainment, Valve representative Jess Cliffe posted the term, Global Offensive on the Steam forums and that is now revealed to be the name of the upcoming game.
This upcoming installment will not be limited just to the PC’s as the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 owners will also be able to get their hands on the game this time around. The game is being developed by Valve in co-operation with Hidden Path Entertainment.
Both the companies previously worked together on the developments of Counter Striker: Source and following the success they had with the game, they are now looking to rekindle that winning partnership.
Global Offensive is set to expand on the base that the game set twelve years ago and is going to try and push all the possible boundaries that exist with modern games. The game will feature a handful of updates, including better graphics, new guns, better
gameplay and new maps. However, classic maps and character models are going to be included in the game, in order to help older players of Counter Strike, to be able to feel right at home.
Valve’s Doug Lombardi, when talking about Counter Strike, the upcoming game and its impact on the video gaming world in the past, is quoted to have said, “Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online
PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999.”
“For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and
deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac,” he added.
Counter Strike Global Offensive is currently set to be released early next year. However, the game is going to face stiff competition, considering the fact that Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are both going to be released prior to the end of the year.
Nonetheless, with Counter Strike now re-entering the frame, it can only mean that all upcoming FPS’s is going to push their boundaries and develop the best possible games that the world has ever seen.
