Countess Comet targeting her third victory of the season through the Ladbrokes Mobile Novices’ Hurdle at Towcester
The Class 4 Ladbrokes Mobile Novices’ Hurdle is to be held at Towcester over two miles on Monday, 26th March. Competing today are ten four-year and older thoroughbreds for the purse that is worth £2, 534.
The most promising entry on the lineup is Countess Comet, Medicean’s five-year-old bay mare out of mare Countess Sybil.
She strode into the new season on 12th January and claimed her seasonal debut.
She was successful in the Catterickbridge.Co.UK Novices’ Hurdle at Catterick over two miles. She grabbed onto the final two lengths of the track while riding with Tom Messenger. Finishing the closest to the winner was Magic Cat and settling for the third
position in the race was Noble Scholar.
The 5/4 favourite of the race, Star In Flight, was declared unraced after knocking down the jockey, Jason Maguire.
Countess Comet’s second start of the year was not at all exciting as she was the last to leave the track on 10th February in the Follow Us On Twitter @Bluesq Handicap at Wolverhampton over a mile and four furlongs.
The race was won by the evening’s favourite, Queen Of Denmark, who was coupled with Joe Fanning.
After encountering the dreadful fate of losing so miserably, Countess Comet did not compromise with the next start and swung back into her winning routine.
She claimed Theconistonhotel.Com Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle on 7th March at Catterick over two miles.
She was yet again riding with Tom Messenger and the two led the evening’s favourite, Ms Cordelia, by six lengths.
Managing to settle third was Hidden Identity.
It is not that Countess Comet conquered the seasonal debut only rather she came out of the previous season with the final start translating into a victory.
That victory she managed with jockey, Jim Crowley, the two led by sixteen lengths in the 70’s Christmas Parties Here 01753 498440 Handicap on 3rd October at Windsor over a mile and three and a half furlong.
Countess Comet is racing her fourth outing of the season today and it does not only guarantee her victory but that too coupled with being sent as a favourite.
The only entry that she needs to look out for is Pasture Bay who is aiming to improve performance towards the second chance of the new season.
